More than 115,000 votes have been cast during the fourth edition of “The Seven Wonders of Poland” contest organised by the National Geographic Traveler’s editorial team.
First place in the competition has been granted to OFF Piotrkowska Complex in Lodz. But there is more than just one winner. We have always appreciated the beauty of our country as shown through the pages of “Traveler” and we are very happy to have engaged our readers in such way for the fourth time already.
This time we received precisely 115,325 votes, setting a new record in the history of the contest. It makes it clear that Poland is still in high-demand! – says Martyna Wojciechowska, editor-in-chief at National Geographic Traveler Poland.
The beauty of "The Seven Wonders of Poland" consists in promoting interesting, unusual and attractive tourist destinations in our country. Throughout the whole year the magazine’s editors travel all around the country in search for magical places and unusual venues, both newly created and those given a new lease of life. The whole point of the project is to prove that Poland is beautiful and one does not need to travel thousands of kilometres to experience the adventure and delight of the world.
The editors had nominated 16 places (one from each province) and then put them under vote for readers to pick the final seven via an online poll. Anyone who cast their vote got the chance of winning some lovely prizes: 3x Fiat Freemont for the weekend trip, 20x six-month subscription of National Geographic Traveler Poland, 25x iFitness kit for runners. Awards were presented during the gala at the Fair of Regions and Tourist Products in Poznan, hosted by Martyna Wojciechowska and Rafal Szmytke – the president of the Polish Tourist Organisation.
Gallery presenting all seven wonders and the nominated places can be found in the November issue of the magazine and on the website www.7cudow.national-geographic.pl
The contest was co-organised by the Fair of Regions and Tourist Products. The list of partners includes Fiat, Radio Zlote Przeboje and Gazeta.pl.
It’s like in New York or Berlin. OFF Piotrkowska is now the hottest address in Lodz! Everything is a little quirky here. Slow shopping, creative vibe, an unusual mix of retail stores, service outlets and art galleries – it all blends very well together and makes for a unique place, cherished by both tourists and the people of Lodz.
Although the postindustrial complex houses over 20 restaurants, bars and pubs, it is nearly impossible to find a free table during the season. It is not only the fun-thirsty crowds that get drawn to this place. In some cases OFF Piotrkowska was one of the main reasons that made people come back to their home city of Lodz.
